Les,

They are all about the same with a 1/1.63 or 1/1.7 of the samsung. You really can not expect any mark improvement over the current camera's like the G11 or S90 or panny LX3 or LX5.

I haven't downloaded the image so I assume no flash was used, correct? If so, that's impressive indeed.

I'm now thinking of getting a Pentax 40mm F 2.8 pancake lens for my Pentax KM, which is a very small DSLR (in it's time, 2008-09...the smallest DSLR), but of course has the good sized DSLR sensor.

A compact DSLR with a well rated small, flat lens...relatively fast at F 2.8....might be the closest I can come to good sized sensor with a relatively small package..still not as small as a G11....but pix quality.

Les-

The Km with the Pentax 40mm Ltd would produce much better image quality than the G-11. It would have a little bit less high ISO capability, but the image quality would knock your socks off. All in a package slightly larger than a G-11!

Thanks for the inspiration, Les, I am in the process of moving forward on the Km+Pentax 40mm combination. I should be posting photo samples my 25 August. I am looking forward to seeing what that combination can produce.

Sarah,

I'm looking forward to your assessment about what this combo can produce and your always thorough, analysis of the strengths and weaknesses.

I have had my KM for about 15 months or so. I've been very happy with it, lot's of features such as in camera editing...I like the HDR and the water colour bits.

It's quite small....not at the KX level, but still a competent little DSLR.

As far as the 40 mm F 2.8....I'm thinking about asking for it as an X-Mas gift.

I still use my old (1952) Leica 11f Rangefinder with fold-able, Leitz Elmar 50 mm lens.

Although the Leica body /Elmar fold-able lens is heavy, it is a small combo that still performs very well...my idea about the KM and the pancake 40 mm F 2.8...would be...for me.... a bit of an update...of this idea, IMO.

Les
