Default Canon 5D Mark II Stolen During Wedding

Yesterday somebody stole my camera while I was shooting a wedding at Signature Grand at Davie, FL. I just put it down at a table for a few minutes to take pictures of the bride and groom with my other camera and when I wanted to pick it up it was no longer there. The management wasn't particularly shocked when I announced the case....
Please be very careful when you shoot weddings there!!!

I always pay attention to make sure that my equipment is secure but I never thought that somebody could take it in less than a minute during a wedding. The bride and groom's getting ready pictures were on the card... SO BE CAREFUL!

Also, please contact Broward County, FL police department if somebody tries to sell you a Canon 5D Mark II with the following Serial number: 2764B003AA or contact me via haringphotography.com

I hope this helps!!!

Sorry to hear the bad news about your camera. I hope
it was insured. You should inform Canon, just in case
it turns up for service or repair later.

I think the Canon puts the serial number in the EXIF info
of each image. Sooner or later, pictures from this camera
will appear on the web.

Flickr can track the serial numbers of the cameras that photos uploaded there are taken with. You might want to keep an eye out over there.

As strange as this may sound keep in contact with the wedding couple for a while. Someone may try to sell them those other images in some form at a later date to make a few bucks and maybe that will help you to track down the thief and camera.

Also, if the couple had a videographer, ask him/her to review background action in the raw footage. There was a post on a wedding video forum years ago where the videographer happened to tape someone in the background walking off with the stolen item. (It was a DSLR camera as I recall.) Guess what? The thief was a relative.

File the serial number with local Sheriff's Office...got 4 guns back after they were stolen 3 yrs earlier still in excellent condition...they were at a drug dealer's house that was raided and the State Police entered all the serial numbers of everything recovered and they matched up with mine a 100 miles away...
