I tried that. I resized the 10mp image to 6mp. I still noticed less detail compared to the old camera.

Nope not at all.

...But it may not be wholly or in fact even partially because number of pixels. Or it may. But certainly the OP cannot make that claim because of a 100% comparison between two cameras of different resolutions.

My later post after the quotes you listed I hope makes it clearer.
