Default which one or suggest

looking for a gift for my wife, wanting to upgrade a bit from her canon 1000is. thinking about sony dsc w350, canon sd1300, samsung wb 550 or other suggestions as looking for all different reviews is brain numbing. she will mainly shoot in auto and will mostly shoot the kids in and outdoor. looking to spend $200 to $300 canadian. any suggestions appreciated

The canon SD4000 and the panasonic ZR1 are good compact all around camera. Costco has the ZR1 for about 170. But not all of them have it.

the sd4000 is $400 cdn while the dsc w350 is $180 cdn, is it twice as good a camera

That is pricey for a compact point and shoot. I would look at the panasonic zs5 or ZR1.

ive always read that the panasonics are poor indoor low light conditions which will effect my decision. plus the 2 you mentioned are $230 and $350 cdn. man, us canuks get ripped.

Wow, the two taxes do add up.

That is the same rub they said about the zs3, but if you are within 10ft. The flash is fine. And the ZS3 produce better pictures then the sony that it was match up with.

The w350 is a good camera, lens is pretty sharp

so after going through reviews and price comparisons i got it narrowed down to sony dsc w350 $180 or samsung tl320 $250 cdn.
