According to the specs, the Canon flash has a range of 3m vs. 5.3m of the ZS7. The ZS7 LCD has a much higher resolution and the lens is slightly faster. However, these are just specs. Anything looks good on paper.

The Canon SX-130 continue to not only look good on paper but in action as well.

It does look good. How do you like the HS10 BTW? I read a lot of mixed opinions...nothing really negative but glitches here and there that would probably aggravate the heck out of me.

Tullio-

It appears that any of these BSI-CMOS imager cameras, and the FZ-100 and the HS-10 are cameras using that imager, have their glitches. The FZ-35 is a much more usable choice.

Lylepalooza-

I still believe that the Panasonic FZ-35 is the #1 choice for your South America trip. If the FZ-35 is too big, then the Canon SX-130 is the next best choice.

Hi all,

Thank you very much for your quick responses! For some reason, the first response was emailed to me, but none thereafter. I must check my junk mail to see if it has been misplaced.

I am currently reviewing all the different cameras that have been suggested. So far they all look pretty spot-on for what I require. Now I think it might be a matter of heading back to the store to try them out.

I'll keep you informed.
