not really, that is a older design, so low light indoor shooting is not as good as the a230 or a290, let alone the canon XS or nikon D3000 with the cmos sensors.

koolpc-

The Sony A-230 does well indoors without flash, and it should not be discounted. The A-450 which is now at a brilliant price in the UK would do even better.

Click on the link below to see what the A-230 can do without flash:

You are correct, Dustin-

And the Sony A-230 with in camera IS can be purchased brand new with a full 1 year guarantee from www.walmart.com with the Sony 18-55mm kit lens for just $379.00 with free shipping. Now there is a value.

Does not help koolpc's brother in law in the UK though. But it is a good value here in the states.

thanks for your valuable
comments. I will be going for
either of the two cameras
sujested by you guyz, a second
hand dslr wont be a good option
for me, i think my limited
photographic language will be
an issue! Moreover a large
telephoto lense is out of my
budget. Do we get lens while purchasing a used dslr?

I do know that the price on the Sony A-500 price has also fallen quickly in the UK. Here in the USA the A-500 body is down to $(US)434.95. Ten months ago that camera with kit lens was selling for nearly $(US)700.00.

Here is an example of what the A-500 is capable of producing. This was shot with an old Minolta 35-105mm lens at ISO 1600. Please just click on the link below.

Thanks all. The A230 looks like a great one for my relative.
