Default Need help about hair line cracks in Panasonic FZ bodies

Hello:

I am thinking of buying a good used Panasonic FZ series camera. There are two on Ebay that have hair line cracks on the camera body casing. Is this a deal breaker? I don't have as much money as I'd like to invest so I need to make sure I don't buy something that will cause me unnecessary trouble in the future. Thanks for your help!

Panasonic FZ cameras are fairly robust. Light scratches from normal
use are probably ok. Cracks would suggest that the camera has had
a very hard knock. I would be very wary of buying a camera that had
been dropped onto a hard surface. There are plenty of mint used FZs
on the market. I don't see why you should take the risk of buying a
damaged one.

Look at Amazon outlet first. They have some great deals on open boxes and an excellent return policy. I'd not trust buying from eBay something that has cracks on it. Maybe the crack is not that significant but if it was caused by a big bang or drop, the impact could have affected the lens mechanism and consequently the camera's ability to focus accurately. Who knows...just spend a bit more and have peace of mind!
