S/T-

I just wanted to show the OP what the Panasonic FZ-28 and FZ-35 can do in every day life.

It does not meet the OP's no flash low light, it is not the right system as that is important. That is why the first thing I ask was the OP considering a dslr. Because spot lighting and city shots with allot of light coming off of bright street signs, is not your everyday. It is just misleading to imply that a fz can shoot well in low light requiring 1600iso or better.

i guess it is all a matter of how much the OP wants to spend on his new camera. I agree that a DSLR, like a Pentax Kx is a much better solution for high ISO shooting.

However, that may indeed exceed the OP's budget to get what he wants.

500 is the stated budget, low light no flash is important. The camera I suggested meets the budget, and as I stated the beauty of a growable system. Is you can add thing later on, and not have to buy everything up front.

Hi and welcome you have seen some good advice, what I would do is go to a local shop and have a good look and do the touchy feely thing. After this you may find your self leaning more towards a DSLR or you may want a bridge camera. I think you will have better idea after this. We are always here to help.
