With the lens, the L is a great lens, but my be a bit tight if you do allot of group shots or landscape work. 24mm is not that wide on a crop body.

17-55 is a good low light zoom with some good dof control at 2.8

The 15-85 is a excellent walk around lens, giving good reach and a good wide angle.
Thanks shoturtle,

Yeah, I just realized the 24-70 is a "L" lens so I deleted it from my options.
So as far as Canon lens I'm between the 17-55 2.8 and the 15-85

I'd love to go for the 15-85, but I'm not sure how much IQ I'll be sacrificing.
Any Sigma or Tamron worth looking at that are better than these two Canons for IQ?

Okay, but better IQ than the Canon 17-55?

BTW, I can clearly see slightly better detail resolution between the T1i & T2i in this comparison @ ISO 100 in JPEG.....

I used image resources I like that I can see the full jpeg image. They are very close, the 18mp gives the t2i a little bit more resolution.

The 17-55 is a really good lens, close to the iq to L quality.

have you considered an interchangeable lens camera that isn't a dslr? i've heard that the olympus epl1 has the best jpg engine, and i've heard it from a lot of people including reviewers and users. might be worth a look.

Yes, Thank you pcake, I did look into it, but I think I'd like to stay with a DSLR in order to grow more as a photographer.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I was looking to return my new Kx for something "better" and thought I settled on the T2i.
I went to Costco yesterday and had a chance to check one out first.
Boy, I'm glad I did.
The camera has great specs, but I didn't care for the plasticy feel at all.

I'm sticking wwith my Kx
