Comparing the LX3 versus S90 is logical. But in my opinion the hot shoe on the LX3 makes it the better choice.

If I buy LX3, it is going to be for general use...taking pictures of family, people, scenery and daily moments.

Is it still going to be a good choice for me?

OR should I add a bit more and get a newer model like Olympus EPL1, Panasonic FZ100 or else? (I know LX3 is still a good camera despite that it is a 2 year old model, but still it bothers. And my current camera is 3 year old model, Canon Ixy 10)

the Fz100 will not give you the low light like lx3, it just gives you more zoom. If you need more range, the epl-1 will be the better option if you want higher Image Quality in low light. And you can add an good zoom lens for under 300 dollars.

The lx3 is a good camera, if the zoom is not that big of a deal. And low light is.

no point and shoots are really great for that, neither is epl-1. That is really a dslr thing. But the epl-1 will do a better job then a point and shoot
