Well RAW allows you to do more correction for White Balance and Exposure. But it will require you to do more editing vs shooting jpeg. Just make sure what editing program you uses has a RAW adapter for the canon. Which most all the good ones do.

I was on ebay looking at cable releases they also have IR ones ( both canon and off brand ones at about 1/2 the price ) which might be a better option for me...while there I also saw the battery grips for my camera. I saw one canon oem one but also found different off brand ones for less then 1/3 the price of the original one. is it really better to spend the big bucks on the oem one or will the others work just as well? if the others work just as well I saw some that took 2 batteries and others that you could use 2 batteries or 6 AA batteries. I already have a tripod which I used last night at one of my grandsons football game and got some great shots... just thinking for future purchase on the other stuff that might come in handy

the ir and cable releases work fine form ebay. The battery grip also works, but they skimp on the solder so the connections behind a plate with screws can come loose. Easy fix, open the plate, and solder them.
