Well, I'm thinking the T2i will suit my needs nicely, it seems like I could have a lot of fun with it. There just aren't enough reviews and image samples of K-r to make a good informed choice on it. I'm a bit sad that I won't be using the older Pentax lenses, but nothing to stop me from having a second, stabilized DSLR down the road. Can't wait for my refund to clear so I can get that sucka ordered!

Thanks again to Shoturtle and Interested_Observer.

If they are m42, you still can use them. Just follow the simple rule of thumb. 1/focal length so if you are using a 200mm lens, 1/200 sec shutter speed. This will keep down camera shake. IS is nice but, you can work around it.

All my prime lenses are non IS. And I can get very stead shots down at 1/16 sec hand held. Here are some taken with a 28mm 1.8 prime lens. All hand held at low shutter speeds.

Yeah, I wouldn't have guessed those were without IS. Definitely worth trying it out. TYVM.

IS is nice, but at time people put to much focus on it. Knowing how to shoot non IS was all of photography for over 100 years.

Morning Rock - What ever camera you selected would have been a good camera - the best one is the one you like - thus it will get used. The other good news is that since Pentax's registration distance (distance from the mount's face back into the camera to the plane of the sensor) is longer than Canon's you can mount Pentax M42 lenses on Canon bodies, using an adapter (and I have no idea as to which one is best).
I think you are going to have fun with the new acquisition....

T2i is ordered. Thank you all so much for the assistance. I am quite certain I'll be back for shooting advice, since my level of technical skill is none too high.
