Well again, I don't like Sony's processing - too much NR. Even though Nikon has been at the bottom the P&S barrel for a few years, I would still go for the S8100 between these 3 cams. Maybe the S8100 will be the one that turns things around for them.

The size difference between a DSLR sensor and a P&S pocket cam sensor is huge though. The additional noise that a CMOS creates on these tiny pocket cam sensors is then compensated for with more NR (noise reduction) which inevitably costs you some detail.

It's the same camera as the FZ100, but double the price...

The Leica X1 is a totally different class of camera. As opposed to it being a rebranded Panasonic, it is really built by Leica. It also has a fixed, non-zoom lens. That means you'll zoom with your feet. It has an APS-C sized sensor so you'll get DSLR quality. But it's slow in terms of performance. It's also $2000. The X1 is intended for wealthy amateurs who can't swing the $7000 M9 rangefinder and its $2000-$3000 lenses and who enjoy doing landscapes, cityscapes and portraits... not action shots.
