Default Best Camera kit(18-55,55-300 or equivalent) buy for < $1000.

Hi again,
I'm back for another camera option opinion/advice.Which camera kit would give me the best picture quality{generally(kids,outdoors,wildlife,in-doors),in low light, with or without built in flash} in the given price range?

with that lens setup you are looking at the pentax k-x, and the K-r. canon does not have a 55-300mm neither does sony. Nikon does but that is a 400 dollar lens.

If you are okay with less reach, the T1i with the 18-55 and 55-250 is a good camera as well. And will fit your budget. You do get a better AF system the either the k-r or k-x.

Honestly you could also look at a Nikon D3100 and an 18-270 tamron VR lens. It doesn't give you 300mm but it gives you everything in 1 lens. Some shops I noticed have that under $1000 so you'll really have to look around.

Otherwise you can also go with a D3100 with 18-55 and 55-300mm VR nikon lenses. That can be had for $914 at Abe of Maine and it has free shipping.

I would pass on the d3100 since it can not shot a EV bracket.

Its impossible to do a bracket accurately without a tripod anyways so that begs the question, how often would you use it for 1 feature that can be gotten around by using free autohdr software.

To be honest I find it like the video feature on my dslr, I haven't used it once and don't see myself using it very often if at all. That's why I was happy with 720p vs paying considerably more for 1080p video.

Here is the thing about an EV bracket, beside HDR where a tripod is a must. If you are a jpeg shooter, not have the EV bracket in tricky lighting is disadvantage. Especially when shooting at dusk. Not everyone wants to shot RAW.

If HD a big thing, I would go with the T2i, it can add an external mic. And well worth going a little over the 1000 dollar budget.

Is HD important? And do you need action?
