Default Nikon L110 vs Kodak Z981 vs Sony DSC-H55 vs Canon SX 130

Hi,

Im looking to buy a camera and after reading reviews online I found the sx 130 is to have consistently good reviews online. The only negative things were poor battery life and slow recharge speed after each shot.

I also liked the L110 and Z981 a lot and was wondering if these two cameras could compare with the sx130 or is the sx130 just flat out better?

I was also wondering how the fujifilm SX1800 is compared to the models above.

I also dont mind suggestions for other cameras if there are better ones around. My price range is around the $200 mark.

Thanks,

If you go to POTN (try googling it) and do a search on SX130 you'll find a lot of discussion about it and several alternatives. That forum focusses (sorry!) more on stills cameras. The conclusion in this case seems to be that although people really liked the SX110, and liked the SX120 a lot, they are a bit less keen on the SX130.

Hi,

As far as the sx130 goes, the battery life is NOT an issue if you use rechargable batteries. I get about 250 shots per charge of of the AA batteries. I find that the camera tells me the batteries are low, but I can still get another 50 shots before the camera shuts down completely.

Someone said that if you use the 1.6 V rechargable batteries that the shot to shot time can be reduced to a max of 6 seconds when using max flash. For me, 6 seconds is the best I can do, with about 12 second delay when using max flash - that is my only complaint about the camera at this time (other than the need to force it to use lower ISO settings in good light so it can take better shots than the default settings - but that is easy enough to do).

I hope this helps,
