rebs,

The shots of my dogs with my FZ100 were taken in Program Auto mode. With my ZS7, I usually use shutter priority and set a speed of 1/100 or faster. The Nikon S8100 should be able to achieve the same assuming it has a shutter priority mode, but 2 of Nikon's recent P&S cameras had problems with focus so it's possible the S8100 may also.

Well the ZS7 has a CCD sensor and the FZ100 has a CMOS sensor. This means that the FZ100 can support a fast burst burst rate and the ZS7 cannot. Focusing seems to be equally fast on both. The ZS7's image quality is better than the FZ100's but the FZ100 can do an 11 frame burst rate and the ZS7 can do about 2 frames.
