Default Canon A3000IS or Canon SD1300IS??

Hi Folks,

Looking to replace my wifes powershot a540 for her for Christmas. She is a hobbyist photographer so she has her DSLR as her primary camera, this is just an in the purse tag along so I don't need feature rich.

Let me know your thoughts on either of these models.

Thanks

You did not give us a budget. In my case, while I enjoy my DSLR, there are indeed times when it is much more convenient to carry a small pocket camera. My choice for a pocket camera is the SD4000, which has greater capability and performance than either the SD1300 or the A3000 or A-3100.

The SD4000 is a pleasure to use and a real performer. Here is a SD4000 photo sample:

Yeah sorry about that. I don't really want to go over 150$. Nothing too fancy, don't need HD video capability, we have a camcorder for that. Her A540 is old and barley works anymore. This is just a replacement for that instead of her camera phone.

Well here is the best deal that I found for you:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_9809wt_1100

i purchased an A480 from this firm in September as a birthday present for our 14 year old grand daughter. These are Canon refurbished units. The camera was perfect and a really great performer. These folks are very reputable and on the up and up.

If you don't like the red color here is a link to a blue one:

Naturally when I received the camera, I had to do a little testing. Here is sample image from the A480.
