Default New baby so new camera

I'm currently pregnant and looking to get a new camera for when my baby arrives. I currently own a Kodak z712IS but it doesn't take very good photos in low light and the auto focus is very slow (it does take great photos outdoors though).
I'll be taking a lot of photos inside and we don't have a lot of natural light in our house. For example, we have 1 window in our living room and it's on the western side of the house.
I'm hoping to only spend $200 - $250. Is there anything in that price range that will work for me or am I better off playing around with the settings on my kodak?

Jess-

The Kodak Z712 is a good outdoor camera. However for those indoor photos, youb will need something like the Canon SD4000. It is currently $259, but Amazon has had it down to both $233, and $206 on 1 day sales.

Here is a SD4000 photo sample taken indoors, it does a really good job:
