Default I need an everyday camera

I'm camera illiterate and need some help. I need a digital camera to keep around the house and just use occasionally for this and that. It must be able to connect to the computer via USB port for downloading and use rechargeable batteries preferably. And, of course, all the normal features like zoom lens, flash, etc. I currently have a Kodak I've had for several years but it's quit working. Kodak says the don't support that one anymore so they're not going to help me. What should I get?

Canon SD4000? Very easy to use, better indoor performance due to the brighter lens, good auto mode. Canon SX130 might be a good option also as it has a stronger flash and its larger size would be irrelevant indoors.

These were $42.04 on final clearance @ Target back in October. I'm somewhat surprised Amazon still has them but then again I got the Sony HX1 at Amazon long after it was discontinued.
