I believe in listing all the option in the op's budget. As the op is the one that will buy it at the end. I rather not push one model, as all the camera in the a230 range are all about the same. A poorly research decision base on just one search could place the OP with the wrong camera. So I list the options out there and let the OP look into each of them, so the op can make a more educated decision vs a impulse one.

Thanks, mtclimber, shoturtle
I really think I will go with the Sony A-230, the price and built in IS at my skill and price level are hard to pass up. And just so I under stand correctly the lens from Minolta A mount will work with this. All flashes are interchangeable right?

Yes the sony will use minolta A mounts. Some older flashes might have compatibility issues.

Nothing wrong with refreb, you get a 90 day warranty. I buy canon refrebs allot, as I get a 1 year warranty with adorama. As long as they are refreb by the manufacture they are fine.

Yes looks like a good move and you can later move up to the A33 or A55...so a nice start for a good system?...

no you can not, it does not have liveview. If you want liveview, look at a refreb canon XS instead. Or if you can deal with the smaller viewfinder, the sony A330. But it is very small.

As long as the refurbishment was done by Sony, I think it is a safe bet.
