Default panasonic vs canon, I need help choosing!!!

Hi guys,

I need a little help here:

I can get a panasonic lx3 in excellent condition and I wanted to ask advice

Which is the better camera overall

The canon s95 or the g11 or the lx3

I am not really worried about zoom, prefer a camera that is good in low light and I realise you can't have both. And it needs to have good picture quality!

Any suggestions, I need to purchase my camera asap this week

Michelle

They are all very good camera's, the canon has better OOC jpegs imho. But IQ ie all about the same. The LX3 is a fine camera and has a really sharp lens. But it only has a 2.5x zoom.

But for low light they all do a decent job for a point and shoot.

The lens adapter will let you add a macro conversion lens or a tc for more reach, or a wide angle conversion lens.

yeah, conversion lenses help with macro and the other stuff allot. That is something that will make the camera more versatile.

The DMW-LW46 is a wide angle lens for the LX3...you will require the DMW-LA4 adapter also to attach it...I don't know which Teleconverter or Macro Lens will work as Panasonic doesn't mmake one specifically for the LX3, it is possible for sure...it will depend upon the thread size of the LA4 adapter...

The LX3 is a great camera...

Hi lt470 - is the lx3 a user friendly camera? Especially for a newbie, my husband has told me he can also get a g11 for a great deal!

Now I am not sure which is the better camera to learn on

You can add conversion lenses to the g11 also with a adapter. It does have more reach then the lx3 by it self. But both have full auto to start shooting with. And if you want you can get into the more advance modes. The lx3 is a little better then the G11 in low light. On the short side of the zoom, the lx3 is a f2 lens, the canon is a f2.8. So that gives the lx3 a slight advantage. The canon has 2x the reach at 5x vs 2.5x.
