Default Point 'n shoot digital underwater camera

I'm looking for upgrade from 35mm to a Point 'n shoot digital underwater camera. Nothing too expensive, but something that will give good shots. I don't know where to start looking? Any suggestions?

I currently have a Sealife 35mm - are their digital cameras good?

Thanks in advance.

I am a diver. Many of the Canon compacts have dive cases. Find the one that suits your budget and see if there is a matching case. Currently, I use the Canon SD4000 IS with a dive case. Unless you spend serious money, thousands, you get will acceptable and fun shots, but not National Geographic quality.

I was going to suggest the same. A S95 w/ a case or an LX5 w/ a case (someone at DPR used the LX3 case I believe) would do very well. Between the camera and the case though, you're looking at $500+ w/ either set. The other option is to get one of the waterproof cams but I doubt any would truly withstand diving. I've seen people complain about some of those cameras leaking in the rain within the first year.

How expensive are you looking at, what is your budget. And what level of photos do you want to get form your underwater digicam?

I dive, but I just can see myself diving any of my more expensive cameras. So I spent under 200 for a intova with case. Okay digicam, but if it floods not a big lost.

The s95 with a case can produce some excellent photos, I seen what the old s90 can do under water. So if you are looking to spend around 6-700 it will give you some excellent results. Especially if you dive in low light areas like caves or night dives. It can shoot the equivalent of 1600asa pretty well for a digicam.

I dive a older version of this camera. This is 8mp version and they have one with 10mp at 2x the price.
