I've wanted to test out the SD4000 against the Kx and now seems like the right time. The OP said he was going to post on Facebook so I resized to their maximum 720 as close as possible. Both shots at f2.8, ISO 1600, no noise reduction, slight sharpening. Kx first, SD4000 next. For that purpose you just can't see much difference. Kx has a little more detail, but that's a heck of a lot more money.

That is a great comparison, Paul-

I have both the Pentax Kx DSLR and the SD4000, and I have found out the same fact to be true. The SD4000 is not a replacement for the Kx, but the image quality is nearly as good on the SD 4000 as it is on the Kx over the same zoom range.

And the SD4000 is very pocketable, whereas the Kx is certainly not.

100% crop would be good to show the difference if you want to shot the IQ on a heavily resize photo. And what were the shutter speeds.
