Default Have LOVED Sony DSC-H1, DSC-H50

Hi All,

Just want to say I had a Sony DSC-H1 (12x zoom) and my current camera is a Sony DSC-H50 (15 x zoom) and I have loved, loved, loved them both.

I am going to get the DSC-HX100v because I'd really like HD in my videos, and am looking forward to the 30x zoom.

I throw the camera in my bag, along w/a small pouch for extra batteries and memory chips -- and I'm good to go. I can capture so much! I have kids so I take lots of shots and video at their sporting events, marching band events, family vacations, etc.

My only hesitation with the DSC-H50 is that the FLASH is slower than I'd like it to be. But that one caveat is OK given that it does sooo much in such a small package.

I'd like a DSLR after this. I borrowed a Nikon D300 and loved the speed and speed of the flash, although I didn't really have time to learn the powerful options and settings, really. I rented (October 2010) a Canon 60D and loved that as well - very quick w/the shutter and flash! The buttons were a compromise between my DSC-H50 (point and shoot style buttons with pre-set scenes) AND the Nikon D300 buttons (allows the users to set all aperture, ISO, WB, etc.) by having options for both. I liked that feature of the Canon 60D alot. And it was lighter in weight than the Nikon. I've now got my eye on the Nikon D7000, w/an 18mm-200mm lense, so need to check that one out as well.

So until I can decide on a DSLR (camera and system) - I'm getting another Sony in the meantime! Youtube clips of HD video in combo w/the zoom on this one - amazing what you can do these days w/a camera (stills + video!) in the $500 range! Can't wait for the Sony DSC-HX100v to start shipping!

I'm also very interested in the Sony DSC-HX100v and it also has a GPS for geo-tagging photos. See link to review:

1. Sony DSC-HX100V
2. Fujifilm FinePix HS20 EXR

Now both of these cameras are not yet launched or available, but after reading the specs, I liked both of them.

Especially the HS20 which has a dedicated button for Exposure/Focus Lock which is found in DSLR's. And even the raw shooting feature is available.

I am really confused which one to purchase. As, soon as it launches in India, I shall buy it. Kindly even give any information on the launch dates if known....

Kindly suggest which would be the best among all the mega-zooms. Any inputs will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Saket Bajaj.
