My uncle works for nikon and says he can possibly get any nikon stuff for half price. Should I wait for d5100 and get that for like $350... ?

well the d5100 was announce today, at 899 for the kit in canada. So you are looking at 800 for the body or in that range. It may be sometime before the body alone is available. Generally the kits come out first follow by the body later.

But you do get the same sensor as the d7000 with the 16mp sony exmor. So if you want a nicer upgrade to the d50, it may be worth the wait for just the d5100 body.

Yeah I already have an 18-55 and 70-300, I'll be getting a 50mm soon. Also, since he works for nikon couldn't he just get the body before?

It depends on the companies policy, if they will let them break a kit. Most of the time companies get product package from the factory, and unless it is slate for a demo. It might not allow even employees to buy them in parts. You will need to find out from your uncle nikon USA's policy. I know at the company I work for, we have to buy the whole package, not just parts of that package if it is not available single parts.

I could always spend half of $900 which is only $450 then sell the kit for like $150.

yup, that is an option, but the kit lens will not fetch that much. Closer to 100 is the most you will get it for it in reality.

18-135? Probably more than $100 as 18-55's are $100 used. This one woulds still be in box.

The 18-135 will be about 200 dollars. I thought it was the 18-55.
