Hi Vince-

IMO the Panasonic FZ35 is the clear choice for image quality, overall quality, and superior build.

Thanks Sarah. I think I'm more and more interested in buying the FZ35. Now, what should I be aware of? any negative point about this camera?

thanks for your help.

Vince-

The Fz35 is one of the best super zoom cameras in the market. Like all sure zoom cameras using a small imager, these cameras are good to about ISO 800 before they begin to show measurable noise. The lens is the best and Panasonic has received several awards for camera reliability, as well as excellent fit and finish.

The FZ35 is a very creditable super zoom camera. However, it should not be viewed as a DSLR or m4/3 level camera. DSLR cameras have larger imagers and perform better at much higher ISO settings.

The FZ40 is the successor to the FZ35. It has a bigger zoom range (25-600mm vs 27-486mm), but slightly worse image quality at ISO's 800 and above, though some will tell you that the difference is hard to see without careful examination. My brother has an FZ40 and likes it very much.

Vince-

Robbo pretty well covered the high point and differences between the FZ35 and FZ40. The 14mp resolution does create a bit more noise at ISO 800. But the put a neat solution among the Scene Modes. It is called the High Sensitivity Scene Mode and it allows you to use ISO 3200 quite nicely.

The initial image is take at 3mp. However, any good editor can restore it easily to 12 or 14mps with ease. I have attached a photos sample taken at ISO 3200 and restore to 12mp.

can you post a crop of the upsize image, as the photo was down sized again for web posting. Hard to get a good idea of the image quality.

A neck region crop would give a good idea of the upsized image quality and detail. Thanks
