Default 550D or 600D that is the Question

I am about to have a life changing moment with the arrival of my first child and turning 40 ! :-) and need some camera advice.

Since Digi Cams came out, I have messed around with Fugi and Sony. Not great but ok.

I want to get a DSLR that is as good as my 35mm Nikon F3 which is gathering dust, I have played with Canon and they look good.

So is it the 550D with two nice lens or newer 600D with one lens ?

Any help or advise would be great.

Essentially they are very similar. They share the same sensor and processor, so the image quality between the 2 cameras is identical. As is the video quality.

The major difference is that the LCD screen on the T3i tilts and swivels. Another difference is the T3i has a 3x digital zoom with full resolution retained for video recording at 1080p.

It is up to you whether these 2 features warrant the price difference. But image quality and video quality will be identical.

as a camera, you can not go wrong with either. But for video the lcd and the digital zoom might come in handy. If you were looking for something more advance the 60D would be the next step up form a t3i.
Super Frequent Flyer, no joke. Ex Patriot and loving it.

rainem first off congrats,

I am in the same boat...lol

I would recommend the 600D and the reason is I have the 60D and love it. I never thought that a flip screen would be that big a deal but that little bugger comes in handy. It will make taking pictures of your new cub a lot easier IMO.

Good luck!
