Here are 2 photos with flash off.
The first vue is at 80 ISO. The second is shot with the "starlight night scene" mode (with a tripod). Impressive I find...

Default ISO 800 and 1600 : SZ 30 MR VS Canon SX 10 IS

SZ30 MR 800 and 1600 ISO : pictures 1 and 3.
Canon SX 10 IS 800 and 1600 : pictures 2 and 4.

I find the Olympus less noisy with the same level of details

Shutter speed way too slow for an action shot like this, but an appropriate shutter speed would have left the image way too dark - which is why this type of camera isn't suitable for this situation. Better to just sit back and enjoy the show as the pics are rarely worth keeping.

Well I bought a SZ-30MR a few weeks ago, the above link is to one of the images I have taken. I am generally really pleased with the camera, however I am having problems with the sound on video clips. Once I get the clip on a PC, the noise from the movie clip is horrendous. I have tried several settings with no success. I knew about the zoom noise and that made me think about the purchase, however I decided I could cope with it regardless. I just can't cope with the actual noise on videoing. It is a roaring noise with booming.
Any tips fully appreciated.
