They also have the largest sensor, so they will give you the better image quality. Especially if the light is not that great. But with a dslr, you want allot of zoom, you will need to add a long zoom lens. And they cost more money.

The megazoom point and shoots you mention have a much smaller sensor, so they do not need as large of a lens to give you allot of zoom. So for long reach they are a bargain when you need reach. But they do not preform well in less the ideal lighting. They get very noise pass 800iso.

I would really look at what your current camera fall shot in, and decide if you want just more zoom, or you want more zoom with higher image quality in different conditions. Because that will make the system allot more expensive.
pls help me out.....any idea about sony dsc-hx100v?

I would say go Fujifilm HS10 or HS20. Best bridge camera around with a 720mm megazoom lens.

hey vijay.. we have another few members from india as well..

sx30 is good in terms of zoom capacity and similar is the case of p500 but nothing
to boast about the pic quality.

in that list fz-40 rules. its an amazing camera. one of my friend has a fz-40 and two of us.. another member ( saketb) picked a hs-20 for 25k and its an amazing camera.

also fz-40 and fz-100 will not be avilable at stores as they were officialy never released in india. either grey market or ebay and its available around 19k ( with dealer warranty )
fz-100 is around 25k ( dealer warranty)

and hs-20 around 25k ( fuji 2 years warranty )

you will be able to get a nikon d3100 dslr + 18-55mm lens for around 28k but that will not solve purpose as you are looking for zoom..

so ideally for 500$ hs-20 fits or say for lesser fz-40..

Default Canon SX30 IS or Sony HX100V....Final Decision ????

Hi All

Finally HX100V Launched in India with a price tag of Rs 22,990.
Canon SX 30 IS is selling in 28,125 (Includes Pouch, and Charger also)

Today i had my hands on HX100V ,It's amazing...what bothered me was it's 30x zoom.....was not so effective as compared to 35x zoom of canon.

Even it is understood that the later one has extra 5x zoom.

As per my observations:

Sony can deliver more clear images than SX30 IS (As no CA),THE AUTOFOCUS IN SONY WAS BREATHE TAKING...

I Basically want a camera which mostly (85%) for outdoor shooting, while travelling in local places.

Kindly suggest me one of these....i am in a great DILEMMA.

And also please let me know what is RAM Image ?

Thank you all for taking interest in my query....

I would suggest either the FZ40 or HX100v as long as my research goes into it. FZ40 has been more proven in the last one year as a stellar performer. Hx100v has a mixed response, some people are getting the best out of it and yet some are not able to get the results, something like the FZ100. SX30 had major CA issues and the picture quality was never upto the mark and a slow focus when compared to FZ40 or Hx100v. Also it has a very poor burst rate for continuous shooting. You best bet at 22, 990 would be a hx100v as it offers much more than the others.
