Default Budget Compact Camera

I am after a budget, ultra compact point and click camera, that delivers reasonable picture quality and adequate video recording.I bought the Sony Cybershot W380 (on special offer) online a couple of days ago, still waiting for delivery. However I have read some conflicting reviews, some complain about poor image quality/level of noise, others quite the opposite. Its like they are reviewing two different models:

I have seen that the Panasonic DMC S3 is also available for under 100, is just as compact and the IQ is half-decent. The only negative is build quality, but to be expected at such a cheap price. I'm in two minds, whether I should keep the cybershot or return it and order the Panasonic.

If I were to rely on photographyblog's review of both cameras, the Pansonic seems to be the better one, but other reviews have cast doubt. I would appreciate any advice on which of the two to go for.
