Default Beginner Camera for a friend

I know i probably shouldnt be posting about film cameras in here but oh well. I have a friend i am getting a gift for soon because she wants to start in photography I really want to get here an all manual filmslrand I can spend time helping and teaching her about photography so my question is wjere can i get an all manual film slr preferably a more known brand name for face value. I was hoping to get a mechanical shutter so i wouldnt have to buy a bunch of batteries. I am hoping to get one with a lens for under $50 preferably less thats more about face value than sheer image quality

I would suggest getting a list of film cameras together and then searching ebay and / or craigslist.

During the film era, the Pentax K1000 was one of the most popular cameras. In the 60 and 70 it was larger than Canon and Nikon.
A 50mm f2 lens was the kit lens, although you could find f1.7 and f1.4 on them.

Hope that helps....

Ebay is a good bet, old flim camera are pretty in expensive. But getting your friend into film land will cause her allot in film development and print. It is very costly now adays to shoot film. I shoot it rarely now adays, and it has really go up to get the film developed. You shoot about 20 rolls of 36 with the developing, and that is almost the price of entry dslr.

if you have any old canon camera you can trade it in for a canon refurbish dslr for a nice discount though canon loyal program. Or pick up a cheap canon point and shoot for 10 bucks and use that as a trade in. Canon CLP number is 866-443-8002

This is what they have from the canon website prices is before the cpl discount
