Default Buying a new camera- Really confused

Well,
I had joined this forum i think 6 months back when i had thought of buying the FZ 40, but somehow just kept postponing it.

Now again i am planning to buy a new camera and am almost sure to do that in the next 15-30 days. And a totally confused with the myriad of choices available.

Few pointers to my confusion are

Price limit - Max 600AUD(can maybe stretch till 650)
Camera types - M4/3, DSLR, Bridge
Shooting needs - Anything under the sun, i really like taking snaps while walking down the road. Love taking portraits and capturing beautiful landscapes. Also occasionally take macros of beautiful flowers that i see in Botanical gardens here in Oz.

I have read and read again, researched for the past one month but unable to come to a conclusion.

The cameras i have shortlisted which fall in my budget(with a basic kit lens) are

1. Nex-3
2. Panasonic G2
3. Panasonic G10
4. Olympus EPL-1
5. Pentax Kx, Kr
6. Canon 1100D
7. Sony Hx100v

Would try to avoid Pentax and Olympus as they dont have any support back in my native place.

Please pour in your suggestions and questions. Thanks for the help in advance.

It looks like you're "all over the board" (different camera types and more).

Are their reasons you selected that particular set of models to choose from?

For example, I see the Sony NEX-3 on the list. But, you didn't include any Sony SLT models (A33, A55) or Sony dSLR models (like the A560 or A580), even though you included dSLR models from Canon and Pentax. My guess is that budget plays into it (and I'm not familiar with Australian vendors). But, it seems like some of the other dSLR models might be within budget limits if you're looking at models like the Pentax K-r.

You may want to give members an idea of what you want to shoot more often so that you'll get better responses.

Hi JimC, thanks for the reply.

well the budget really plays into the equation here, and also since pentax and olympus do not have any support back in India, i dont want to be stuck up with them in case of any issues.

I would more often than not take landscapes, impulsive street shots, portraits.

Also i would try to be as light as possible, and low light photos are a must.

why not then go for a nikon d5000 or d3100.. they should be well in your budget and canon 550d as well.. and support is real good back in india..

if hx100v is an option then consider hs-20 as well...

besides the pentax as they are not officialy sold in india.. the rest are covered with proper servicing network in most of the cities..

majority is canon and nikon...

dslr ( they are a diffrent leage all together ) with that budget body + 18-55 ( basic kit)

else a bridge ( manual modes and a lot of zoom) hx100v else a HS-20..

panansonic micro 4/3 have been recently released over here was well however with a tad high price tag.. but still servicing won't be an issue.

you have to decide what would be more feasible for you as you gotta carry it everyday...

@ironhorse well the nikon doesnt come under my budget here in Oz though i know in India its cheaper!
i would try to avoid DSLR(the big ones atleast) as far as possible but i hear 1100d is smaller than the rest.

panasonic m4/3 seems a better option but as per dpreview it max outs at 800iso which i dont like.

Bridge is considerable but i am looking forward to doing a lot more things with a dslr like quality and other options than the bridge can provide, hence its my last option.

do we have fujifilm support back in India?
