Default Nikon D90 with 18-55Lens vs Canon 500D/ T1i with 18-55 and 75-300 lens

Amigos,

I have been using the Canon SX20IS all the while and felt its high time I get into DSLR world. I need a good camera that I can use for my learning without needing to change it for the next couple of years.

I am struck between these two models.

Nikon D90 with 18-55Lens vs Canon 500D/ T1i with 18-55 and 75-300 lens. They cost almost the same price like 6000 SEK(600 Euros) here in Sweden.

I also saw the Canon 600D/ T3i with 18-55 lens for 7800 SEK(780 Euros). I can extend my budget till 800 Euros. But seriously have no idea if the 18-55 lens would be enough for me initially.

I appreciate help from the experts in this forum.

I would skip the 75-300 if I went the Canon route. It's not very good, and will only cause you to put off buying a better lens.

The D90 is a fine camera, but it's an older design, and doesn't compare well to the Canon's latest model. A better comparison might be to the Nikon D5100.

I think that, at this level, it's more important for you to buy the camera you'd be most comfortable using. If you can't comfortably hold it, if you can't find the controls and commands when you need them, you'll miss shots and be disappointed with the camera.

skip the 75-300 is is not a good lens, a better option is the ef-s 55-250. I is a much better lens if you need a telephoto lens with that canon.
