Default New Buy - Suggestions Please

Hi,

I am planning to buy a new camera and have short listed:
  • Canon Powershot SX130IS Digital Camera
  • Sony Cybershot WX7 Digital Camera
While i like the features of sony but would also like to get the reliability canon provides.
I have heard that sony images when blown above 100% tend to get blurry/pixelated, Is this true?

help please!

I've never used a Cybershot; but I owned a Powershot, a few years ago. It was a great little PnS.

Canon actually doesn't have a great reliability record w/ its P&S cams in recent years. Panasonic has outranked them considerably in terms of reliability on several independent surveys in recent years.

Anyway, the SX130 is a very good P&S and will trounce that WX7 in image quality. If the problem with Sony's P&S cams was only above 100%, or at 100%, or even at 50%, it wouldn't be so much of a problem. The problem is that Sony's super aggressive NR (noise reduction) algorithms created problems that are visible at virtually all sizes. The blurring of grass on my HX5V images is clearly visible even in 5x7 prints.
