Default Nikon 3100 or Canon 2200?

Both of these are readily available and I like the price. I would go a bit higher, but they seem to have what I want. One has ISO up to 1600, the other up to 3200. What does that mean for me? One has manual ISO. I know the 2200 hasn't gotten the best reviews, but I'm choosing it because on a senior class trip, the photos from it ranked up with my sons Nikon 8100. I blew them up to 13x19, and colors were bright for both. I like the size of the 3100. Primary use - classroom of 4 year olds, both inside and on playground.

These are 2 different types of camera the 3100 is a DSLR used with interchangeable lenses and the 2200 is a compact camera. it depends on what your needs are.
