Default Ok need camera advice again...

I was planning on getting the T1i or T2i but daughter had to have dental work so budget isn't going to allow it. I was thinking about getting a canon XSi is it a good one?
I am wanting a camera to take pics fast unlike a P & S (I always seem to miss that cute pic by the time it snaps), good for inside school functions like band, awards program, parties etc. Also looking for a good one to get portraits with indoors and out. I am wanting to learn more about photography and maybe one day be able to do photography for more than a hobby. I also would like to take pics at my kids tball games and zoo trips etc.
Will the XSi be a good starter camera for this or not?

For indoor shooting, the T1i and T2i will work better than the XSi. They support higher ISO settings. For what you say you specifically want to do, the XSi isn't a good choice.

Are you looking at the refurbished units at Adorama? They offer a 1 year store warranty on their refurbished Canons.

Okay I have managed to get the funds for my camera setup. This is what I am ordering:
Canon T2i with kit lens
Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD
Canon 50mm 1.8 (nifty fifty)

What do you think? Is this okay to start with?

The 18-55mm IS kit lens is quite good.

This is a reasonably good lens compared to other lenses
in the same price range. It will be useful for long range shots
outdoors in good light. Don't expect too much from it in
low light or for fast action.

You can't go far wrong with a 'nifty fifty'. They are
fast and sharp. Make sure you don't drop it.

The T2i is an excellent camera. The lenses you have chosen will
cover most situations.

Good Luck with the new camera.

I think you've got it reasonably well covered, but ...

... is still out of reach. There's no two ways about it: this takes large aperture, telephoto lenses, and you can't do that on a shoestring.
