Default self measuring camera

I am a contractor and while on a site, was told about a camera that replaces a tape measure. I was told the price was about 1000$. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

I don't know of any camera that reports the distance to a subject, and even if one did, it wouldn't be as accurate as a conventional laser rangefinder. Have you tried one of those?

G'day cabin

Agree with TC ... the device you're after / the ones we have around Australia - is a hand-held laser rangefinder, about the size of a ciggy packet that when activated will shine a red-laser onto the target & display the distance on its small screen
