Default Help.. need suggestions for a camera with minimal shutter lag

I have a 6 and 3 year old.. need I say more??? We are going to Hawaii in 10 days and I am SO sick of point and clicks that miss every good picture.... so I am open to dSLRs... the only reason we did not get one sooner is my husband wants something to put in his pocket... but we miss EVERYTHING...

Video would be nice as well.. I have an EVO, Flip, etc.... but I am so sick of carrying around crappy stuff that never allows us to really get good pics or film.... $400 is the range I am HOPING....

Thank you in advance

I think that the Panasonic FZ150 is pretty darn quick, and it's a really good allround camera. I don't have one yet, but I've ordered one after some research, and I've only heard good things about it.

Agreed Marquzz... FZ150- a box of tricks, armed to the roof with all the latest "must haves" and blindingly fast operation. Superb "all in one"....
Would have bought one myself, only had a cracking deal on Canon's SX40 which I couldn't refuse...!

Dig around online and used or refurb DSLRs, without video, can be found for $400 USD and less. With the video feature the price will end up very near $500. There are a few new point-and-shoot type cameras that are quicker than most P&S. Of course all P&S cameras have video.
