Default replacement for Leica M

I hope someone has faced this dilemma.
For over 40 years I shot with Leicas, from M3 to M6, as film faded I moved to small point and shoot as the best substitute for the M experience: i.e., small, compact, range finder or at not SLR, I now shoot an Canon S95. But want I want is a camera that I set film speed and then play, not via a menu, with aperture and shutter speed: period. Assuming auto focus. I am looking for a digital, small, high quality camera, that comes close to my M experience.
And to be honest the Leicas of today are wonderful, but collector's items, too expensive for me.
