IMHO the OP says it all the nikon feels better and I prefer nikon lenses. Therefore get the Nikon you will be happy with it. My best advice to anyone is if it feels right it probably is.

Digitalrev has a pretty good rep, so I wouldn't be too worried about that.

Their D5100 kit looks good, even with VAT added on it's still a lot cheaper than UK prices.

I wouldn't bother with a filter myself.
