Default Help! I've fallen (behind) and can't get (caught) up

I've used a combination of two cameras over the past several years that have met my needs quite well, a Fujifilm F30 and Panasonic Lumix FZ3. One of the major control buttons on the FZ3 has quit working, and it looks like time to upgrade. It has been so long since I've looked at cameras, the market has passed me by. Primary uses of the cameras are: 1) Pictures and videos of musical acts in small clubs, and 2) Sporting events.

The F30 is great in low light at close range, and has a surprisingly good microphone for video - albeit at only 640 x 480. The FZ3 has great zoom, and the ability to maintain wide aperture throughout the zoom range. Total number of pixels isn't important (heck, I was still satisfied with the 3 MP FZ3), but overall picture quality is.

Is there a camera out there now that matches the functionality that I need? Thanks.

Dave
