Default Nikon L120 or Nikon S9100

I am looking for a new camera for an upcoming trip to Alaska. I have always used a simple point and shoot pocket camera. I have been looking at the Nikon Coolpix L120 and S9100. Size is definitely a difference but any recommendations between the two?

They're both primarily auto everything "point and shoots",despite the L120's appearance.
The image quality in my opinion is better in the S9100- no doubt due to the backlit CMOS sensor. It also has a VERY good zoom for a compact- 25-450 is impressive.
If travelling however- you may prefer the AA powered L120- meaning you're unlikely to get caught short and run out of power- merely picking up batteries from any store.
Personally though I'd still plum for the S9100 and buy a couple of spare batteries.... though this camera charges through the USB cable- so it might be worth looking into a "proper" charger for it....

if those were my only choices, i'd go for the s9100 for the same reason.

I narrowed down my choices by playing with a couple of them at a local store. The selection was not very big. I am looking for something pretty easy to use with a decent zoom. Do not want anything larger than the L120. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Samsung's WB700 is a decent all rounder with full auto AND manual options...and going pretty cheap now,as the 750 is now out.
Maybe the Canon SX150 if you sacrifice a little zoom...
