Default First DSLR? Have about $500 for used kit??

Finally moving to my first DSLR...waited long time....

Lots of Canon T1 and T2i on Craigslist etc....

Should i just get a T1i and learn the photography basics, and knowledge curve on this camera?

Some setups have 50mm and telephoto for $500 or so....?

The T1i (500D) is a fine camera- and a very capable performer in the right hands...

I'd stay away from "Used". There's no way to tell how much use and abuse a dSLR has suffered, and with a dSLR, even with a guarrantee (which you're not likely to get), if something goes wrong with the body, you may get your money back for the body, but you're still out the money you spent on lenses and accessories.

I suggest you look at "Refurbished" instead. They come with a 90 factory warranty (Warranty, not guarrantee, meaning you get your camera working so you can still use it with your other gear.) Also, Canon refurbished dSLRs from Adorama come with a 1 year store warranty.
  • The lens is the thing.
  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.
