Default Nikon 1 series v/s Pentax K-01 v/s Olympus E-P series

Any comments as to which 1 outperforms the other overall? For general, everyday life photographs. (Kids, parties outdoors etc).

I believe the Pentax has the largest sensor (ASP-C) and has the Pentax K mount...which allows you to use a lot of lenses.

And recent test images show the K-01 to be pretty impressive in the IQ department...!

The pens are nice and have matured as a system. They are prett compact, the new pens have a very fast af system. It is 4/3 so you do not have the hi iOS of apsc or dof. But you get a great jpeg engine with the ability to go off camera ttl flash. And there is a decent amount of accessories for them as it is a more development. And the lenses are pretty good also with the m4/3 system.

The Pentax is not as compact, and it is fugly IMHO.

The Nikon is new, look decent, but does not have the lenses

How something looks is opinion and everybody has a different opinion.

I would rather have the Pentax's larger sensor and the ability to use a vast array of lenses...both old and new.

As far as looks go...I'm not crazy about the looks of any of the EVIL cameras. I think the Canon 7D. Pentax K-5 and Nikon D300s are much better looking than any of the EVIL cameras...but that's my opinion.

I cannot see the point of the K-01.

The only point of taking out the mirror is to save space. What am I missing? I am genuinely bemused. Why would anyone get one instead of a Pentax DSLR?

The Nikon 1 is fantastic, but is not great for indoor or low light, the best of the Pens have an advantage over the 1.

If you are really not sure then go for the Nikon.

Yes Peri'- the K-01 on the face of it does seem to occupy an odd sector of the market- and I'd agree with shoturtle- it's no looker...!!
