Default Help me in deciding my first lens

Hi,
I have decided to buy Canon 600d dslr.
It is available with two kit lenses...18-55mm and 18-135mm.
I leaned towards canon 18-135mm kit lens.
I gave a thought towards the price difference between
600d body only (Rs43000=~ 860 USD ) and
with 18-135mm kit lens (Rs64000=~1300 USD).

It was a difference of 440 USD.

I want to know if any other lens (third party lenses like sigma, tamaron etc)
around the price of 450 to 500 USD which are similar type zoom lenses
(18-135mm/200mm) are better than canon kit lens 18-135mm?
I use mostly for photography and little for videos.

I'm new to Dslr world. Help me decide . Thanks...

The more a lens tries to do, the less it does well.

Where their ranges overlap, the 18-55 and the 18-135 are about equally good, but the 18-135 does cost a lot more. If I were you, I'd get the 18-55 and the 55-250 instead of the 18-135. You'll get better image quality for less money. You'll just have to change lenses occasionally.

Default Price is same for both.

Canon 600d with 18-55mm kit + 55-250mm lens = Rs 66000

And

Canon 600d with 18-135mm kit = Rs 65000

Both cost me the same.

heres my take the 18-55 isnt a bad lens infact its good for a kit. the 55-250 really punches above its weight in the image quality stakes, so i would go for the 18-55 plus 55-250. add a 50 1.8 and you have a good starting point.

So, for about the same price, you get much better image quality and a greater range of focal lengths with the two lens kit than with the 18-135 alone.
