Default Looking for premium compact suggestions?

I am looking to get a new premium compact camera and I am looking for suggestions.

Wants -

- fast 2.8 or faster
- wide 28mm or wider (35mm standard)
- larger than compact sensor
- preference on CMOS sensor, but willing to compromise
- zoom 4x or greater
- pocketable (I have large pockets)

Thanks for your thoughts.

if your pockets are big, have you checked out the canon g1x? it seems to hit all your buttons as long as you really DO have big pockets:

CMOS sensor that's bigger than a m4/3 sensor
4x zoom 35mm equivalent 28-112mm
f/2.8 lens
and at 4.6 x 3.2 x 2.5", it should fit a jacket pocket.

there's also the much smaller canon s100 at 3.93 x 2.34 x 1.05". sensor is larger than a regular compact although smaller than the g1x, lens is a little wider at 24-120mm, and it's also faster than the g1x at f/2.0-5.9.

right between the other 2 in size is the canon G12. you might be familiar with the G series as it has a large fan base. it's got amazing amounts of external controls - really great. 5x zoom from 28mm, f/2.8, although the sensor is larger than a regular digicam, it is a CCD rather than CMOS sensor.

I like the G1x.

Wondering if there is anything upcoming, leaked or rumored that would be in a similar class?

Olympus XZ-1 scrapes in with its 4x zoom- and a fast f/1.8 lens AND f/2.5 at the long end also. It's certainly pocketable- and a larger than the usual compact sensor (1/1.63" compared to the usual compact 1/2.3" sensor)- though of course, much smaller than a 4/3 or DSLR sensor.
