Default Bargain hunting for last years or earlier point and shoot

I am very happy with my elph 300 hs but I would like more zoom. Budget constraints restrict me to looking at camera models maybe a year or two old. The Panasonic Lumix DMC cameras have been of interest. Any comments or suggestions.

Thanks
Alan

Total manual control is not necessary.

Whatever camera you decide, may I suggest looking into the secondary (i.e. used) market. When I say used, I mean manufacturer refurbished. I bought my current camera this way (it's been 1.5 years so far with it), and I've had zero problems with it in terms of dependability. (It even came sans scratches, marks, of any discernable kind.)

For a bargain shopper, I think it's a great option.
