Default Point & shoot camera with some manual controls?

Hi. First, let me say that I know very little about cameras. I'm trying to help my wife by a camera to replace the Sony Cyber-shot that she used to have.

That camera, model DSC-W170, had a circular dial that allowed her to choose between a number of different modes. It was more than just an automatic point and shoot camera.

What can she buy today that gives her similar functionality, for as little money as possible? We don't want just an "auto" camera.

Thanks!!!

If we "stick" to Sony... .... their latest similar spec' model would be the W620- though you'd have to trawl through the menu for the scene modes.
If you want a proper mode selector/dial,then you'll have to step up to Sony's travel zoom range- with large zoom ranges, plenty of scene/manual control and HD video etc... and the resulting rise in cost.
One of the cheaper options for a camera- with a mode dial- would be Fuji's T200- with a 10x zoom(28-280mm) and image stabiliser.
