Default walking light weight camera

Request for suggestions for a light weight camera, with zoom, for limited
hiking in British Columbia.
Thank you. Raleigh

Low priced point and shoot with decent zooms include Fuji's T200 or Pentax's RZ18.
A little further up the budget-
Canon's SX230/240/260
Panasonic TZ-25 or 30
Sony's HX10/20 or 30v
Nikon's S9100 or the 9200...

i used the sx320 for walkabouts and found it quite good. you might find it at a good price since it's been replaced by the sx260 (i have that now - long story, but i might have been happier to keep the 230). if you don't need manual settings, i had good experiences with the canon elph 510, also, but you need to use a fingernail gently for the touch screen.
