Default Cheap Camera for Tethering

Hi All,

I need a camera which I'll be using in "tethered"/"Remote capture" mode.

It needs an external power jack as it'll be in constant use and I don't want to be changing batteries.

It needs a fairly decent macro mode, simple to use, fairly rugged.

"Tethering" software needs to be free (Or very cheap).

Camera needs to be sub 150.

Have done some research and it seems some Canon cameras are tetherable and come with free software, problem is, i don't know which ones!

I was looking at the SX150 which is currently on special offer, but I'm not convinced this can be used for remote capture...

Any suggestions, guys?

Have you considered a webcam?
  • The lens is the thing.
  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.
